The Chinese must have put in great effort and spent huge amount of money to create this beautiful landscaped garden with Chinese cultural/social themes.
Its only 30 years since China truly opened up to the world after 600 years of closed door policy. In these 30 years, China has achieved rapid growth and transformation, a growth rate that has no parallel in history. China’s growth can be likened to the growth of bamboo. The conditions for growth were laid in the initial years, although you don’t see any changes on the surface.
During the first 30 years after the establishment of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, the Chinese concentrated on solving the basic problems such as ; food , shelter, education, peace and security.
These basic problems were fundamentally solved and conditions were ripe for a great leap outward when Teng Xiao Peng launched the open door policy with the establishment of special economic zones.
Like the bamboo plant surfacing from the underground, the growth of the Chinese economy since its opening up to the world is nothing short of phenomenal, exceeding 10 percent per annual, year after year for the last 30years !
The main conditions for such continuous growth are; a peaceful society, an open door policy and universal education which produced sufficient brain powers to support the rapid growth. Thus, the Chinese’s emphasis on peace and stability within the country and peaceful coexistence and mutual respect with other nations.
This Olympics is like a coming of age party for the Chinese and they are pulling all the stops to ensure its success !
Looking at the way some Western nations and media are playing up the Tibet issue, I got the feeling that they are also pulling all the stops to sabotage the Olympic games ! 100 odd years later, they are still trying to pull a fast one on China ! Tibet has been part of China since 500 odd years ago …a long time ago, long before the existence of countries like US, Canada, Australia and NZ. So, what is the West talking about Independent for Tibet !!??.
